I was given this wonderful castile soap for my birthday. What, you ask is castile soap and what makes it so great?
Castile soap was first made in the Mediterranean area, it gets its name from the Castile region of Spain. The primary difference between Castile soap and traditional bar soap is that it uses olive oil as a principle ingredient rather than animal fat---tallow or lard. Castile soaps are vegetable in origin. The only drawback to castile soap is that sometimes it is too concentrated and can be drying if not diluted.
I often thank the person who gave me this soap because I love using it on my face. It does not foam, is easy to wash off, and leaves my face feeling clean and soft. It contains no extra ingredients—no fragrances or bacteria killing chemicals that can cause bacterial resistance. only the four listed—water, olive oil, glycerin, and potassium hydroxide,
This particular brand is produced by Bread Brothers Bakery here in Mesa and comes in two sizes. This is the larger size—the other is small enough to make nice gifts.
I can’t recommend it enough.
