My sister, Stacy, told me about the Emma M. Lion journals.
She’s read them all and is eagerly waiting for volume 8.
I dillydallied, thought I’d finish a few other books—I usually have at least three going at any given time—but eventually purchased the book authored by Beth Brower.
Emma M Lion is a fictional character and her journals are fiction but don’t let that stop you.
The voice of young Emma is delightful, a bit snarky, as she faces the obstacles of a wretched, penurious relative, of having no funds, of being female, all set in late 19th century England with its many airs and conventions regarding gender and position.
Reading this little book, The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion is pure fun.
When was the last time you called a book fun?
Give Emma a try.
I’ve already gotten the second one.
